Claire Marks is an artist based in Akron, Ohio. She began drawing books with her twin brother at age four and has been working as an artist ever since. Marks works in a variety of mediums, primarily monotype, colored pencil, graphite, pen and ink, oil paint and watercolor. She fell in love with all forms of printmaking as a student at the Cleveland Institute of Art, especially the painterly monotype process. Her work is inspired by great works of literature and her fascination with psychology, philosophy and history. Marks' work has been included in numerous group exhibitions around northeast Ohio. She is the recipient of Zygote Press' Emerging Artist Fellowship in 2015 and CIA's First Agnes Gund Traveling Scholarship.
